One year after the release, Inconvenient Truth is still relevant one year after its release. As the Bush administration ignores reality and continues with the fantasy that there is debate over this issue, more and more evidence is coming out supporting Gore's thesis that we need a worldwide effort to stop the trend of global warming:
A sampling of other findings coming from the conference:
- The snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains on the Uganda border will be snowcapped no more in a decade or two, thanks to rising temperatures. The same with Mount Kilimanjaro. Gone would be the rivers these snowcaps feed, also.
- If climate conditions are unchanged, sea levels could rise 34 inches by 2100, displacing millions of coastal dwellers.
- Warming ocean waters are suspected of stoking the power of hurricanes.
- Carbon dioxide particles falling from the sky are raising the acidity of oceans, killing off major coral reefs.
Gore mentions the last two - hurricanes and coral reefs - in his video update. Which tells you he's right on top of the latest findings and compiled his update remarkably close to the release date of this video.
This evidence is from a UN conference held in Kenya. But then again, Bush ignores reality and panders to the Black Helicopter crowd and insists on ramming John Bolton down the throats of the Senate despite the fact that his renomination is dead in the water. And under the Bush administration, the US is among four of 56 nations who have done the least to stop climate change. So, all the friendly ads you see on TV of benevolent chemical companies highlighting their environmental work belie the fact that they have done absolutely nothing to tackle the problem of climate change.
