Dick Cheney lied about Iraq/Bin Laden connection long after allegation disproved.

Ibn al-Shakyh al-Libi retracted his claims that there were links between Saddam and Bin Laden in January 2004. However, Vice President Dick Cheney, who has a known habit of micromanaging the CIA, continuted to lie about the connection as late as June, 2004. Think Progress reports that Cheney said this on CNBC on Ludlow and Kramner on June 4th 2004. We know, from the Washington Post, that Cheney micromanaged the CIA. Therefore, it is almost impossible to believe that he did not know of this retraction by June 2004.

The fact is, this was right in the heat of the reelection campaign. This is one more example of how Cheney and the rest of the Bush administration would say anything to get reelected.

This is a prime example of the moral decay that is infesting the Bush administration. By his actions, which speak louder than words, Cheney believes that it is OK to lie as long as you will not get caught. The same logic that applied to Bill Clinton needs to apply to Cheney. If the Religious Right can jump all over Clinton for lying about a blowjob, then by the same logic, they need to jump on Cheney for lying about national security matters. It works both ways. Last time I checked, I don't remember where it says in the Bible that it is OK to lie if you're a Republican.
